This morning I had a great conversation with my wife. As we watched the snow fall outside our window and sipped on a cup of coffee, we realized what we have. We support one another. We believe in each other and in the God given gifts and abilities we both have for business. Though we don't always agree on everything, we work well with together. We have another business aside from real estate investing that she heads up. I support her by promoting and selling at craft shows. She helps me by doing administrative work for the real estate side that I head up. I'm all thumbs when it comes to admin work.
I realize the importance of having a great support system in place. Even if it is one other person. Not everyone is going to yell, "hip hip hoo ray" with every venture you take on. But it is important to have people in your corner who support what you do. Those who are there to encourage you when things are not looking so great. Those will tell you the truth and be honest with you. Just like a boxer in a ring, between rounds he needs a good trainer, a cut man to help and stitch him up and the guy who holds the bucket and puts out his chair (I was watching Rocky Balboa last night) in his corner. Rocky had Adrian, Mic and Pauly. Well, may not so much Pauly. Anyway, you have to have a support system in place.
If you are new to investing and you need guidance as well as support, look for those who have more experience. Find a mentor. Even Darth Vader had a mentor. Luke Skywalker had OB1. Let's put it in everyday terms. Go and find those who will help, like a real estate club in your area. You can probably find them by asking other investors online. Chat rooms, on line communities, along with local real estate clubs that have meetings weekly or monthly.
Sometimes we can feel like we are alone set adrift but as quoted by Charrissa Cawley, a well respected real estate trainer,"it takes team work to make the dream work". Donald Trump also offers the same advice and that is to have a good support system behind you. Build a team and offer your support to others as well.
There is nothing really deep in this blog but just offering food for thought and encouragement.
