There are only two words that will always lead you to success. Those words are yes and no. Undoubtedly, you’ve mastered saying yes. So start practicing saying no. Your goals depend on it!
Jack Canfield
As I continue on my journey with my mentor and my tenacity, I realize the great benefit of having a mentor. Daily, I am researching, daily I am wanting to say yes to certain 'deals'. My mentor had laid out specific guidelines, and for good reason. He has had the exerience to know what will work and what will be a waste of time. These 'time wasters' are the ones I could not have foreseen. He has learned to just say 'no' to them and move on.
For instance, today, I found many great opportunities. Upon more due diligence, backed with his guidance, these 'great' opp's were some of the worst opp's on his list. I had to say 'no' to them and move on. My gut was telling me that he was right, but I was still lingering over the numbers and how beautiful they looked. Indeed, the numbers would have put better numbers in my bank account, on the front end, if you know what I mean. However, after hearing some of the stories he has told me about deals gone awry and why, I knew that numbers are not the only consideration when looking into a deal. Oh sure I already knew on a basic level of what to stay from - things that say 'I am a bad deal no matter how you slice it'.
I am eternally grateful for having the opportunity of working with him, teaching me when to say 'no'. I used to go on only my gut feeling, but now - look out, I am armed with knowledge. I know that I am just that much closer to achieving my goals! I look forward to the day when I will be toable to help someone else learn the lessons I had learned. Perhaps the will be able to say 'no' and achieve the greatness they desire!
