Webinar ‘Gurus’ Love to Exaggerate

By mrshortsale

Just a quickie here guys. I know that my business is short sales, and I know my business very well. I have gone off before about how all these guys that are teaching real estate investing courses and the guys with the internet marketing courses (the so-called “Gurus”) have been cross promoting their databases to death. On top of all of that this marketing tactic that they use, the ’scarcity’ tactic, where they try to tell you that seats are running out, or that people were not let onto calls because there were so many people… etc. etc. It’s one thing if you’re honest about it, but I can tell you from first hand experience, that these guys aren’t getting nearly the numbers that they’re claiming on these webinars, and when they say that people got on but the system kicked them off because it was overwhelmed… and people were just totally upset, so we’re holding the seminar over for a second day… a third day… and so on. Liars! Blatantly lying right through their greedy little teeth. That’s right I said it GREED. All these guys are getting so carried away, and my thought is that greed has gotten the better of them. I for one, am sick of these guys always attempting to use their “Jedi mind trick” marketing ploys to somehow con me into purchasing their wares. Those days should be over with, people are getting hip to it (or your should be by now, listen up). How about just being honest and forthright, and have a product that actually has some value (instead of building in all of this “perceived” value) and let it stand on it’s own. They won’t because they are afraid, they know their stuff can’t stand upon merit alone, and they won’t make as many or any sales. I am looking for the first honest guy to come forward with something that is worth the money, AND there’s no monthly (rip off) recurring fee. Oh yeah, that’s right, the one where they lure you in with “I’ve got your FREE blueprint ordered, where do I send it? All you have to pay is the $4.00 shipping” then, after 30 days you get zapped $197 for some bull**** ongoing coaching, or support crap- don’t even get me started on this…

It's funny how this blog received a grade of "C", which is what I expected considering that this site it basically just a big advertisement for products. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for promoting. I'm just sick of all of the repetitive cross promoting, and some of the useless products that have been developed just for the sake of making sales, or providing "upsell" opportunities. If you really have something that is worth while and people want it, or need it, or it will help them in some way, then, great! I guess it's just a matter of check your conscience first, before you just churn some crap out to make a buck.

 Hey Nick,

Good post.  A big "AMEN" to that.

What gets me, is if these guys are really "so" busy with their real estate businesses ... how do they find time to send out 2 or 3 emails a day about buying their system?  LOL!  I know when I'm busy rehabbing houses - sometimes a dozen or two at a time - I have no time to be marketing some program.

As Brian says, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.  There are a lot of good people out there.  Everyone tends to lump anyone who sells something together with all the fake people.  Not everyone selling teaching courses is a rip off.  In fact, there are many legitimate people that get a bad rap.  I've heard good things about Dave Lindahl.  Myself, I don't consider myself a "Guru" at all.  I do offer coaching on the side, but on my site I provide proof I'm for real, and I'm the only person I know of out there that offers a 100% money back performance guarantee (no, this is not an ad for my services, I'm just responding to your mentioning there are few honest people out there teaching).

I regularly offer free support and coaching to people.  No sales, nothing asked in return.

There are honest people out there.

Thanks for the post.

Todd

You had me up to the sales pitch. Dave Lindahl is the real deal. I've learned a ton from him about investing in apartment buildings. Have met "real" people at the events who have done this and were successful. And if I close one more deal this year (3 so far and 2 in the pipeline) I will have achieved $1M worth of real estate this year alone - no money down.

Yea, I hate the sales pitch these gurus use as much as the next guy. But the Lindahl system works. You just need to work that system. The Apartment Riches Bootcamp is worth the coin. You wanted honesty, well there it is. Let's see how long this post stays on the page.

Best of luck with your system. Not having tried it, I have no comment. Wishing you all the success you are looking for.
