Web 2.0 Is Here, Have You Upgraded?

Ah, I remember it as if it were yesterday. The year was 1993. December the month. Santa brought me and my kid brother a brand new Packard Bell 486dx2, 66mhz, 8gig ram, and 1.2g hard drive home desktop computer. This thing was top of the line for its day. It even employed MS Windows 3.1 and a free trial of AOL 1.0.

I spent months clicking through random folders trying to figure out just what made my computer work. I can remember using mIRC for chatting online and aol for surfing my favorite grunge guitar websites. The internet for the next several years was nothing more than IRC chat rooms, guitar forums and video games for me.

In 2001 my beloved computer died. It was replaced with several hps and dells sometime later and boy was the internet different. The .com boom had all but came then went and things just seemed different.

Fast forward a few more years and "WHAM"- Web 2.0 is here. Now internet users are even more connected to each other thanks to faster download and upload speeds and social media sites such as myspace, blogger, youtube, flickr, photobucket and facebook. More recently tokbox, stickam, google maps, google groups, yahoo groups, mapquest, yelp, Bebo and Skyrock.

As an investor there is definantely a huge potential to exploit these "web 2.0" networks in marketing and promoting our services. Especially marketing!

Here are my Top 10 in no particular order:

Craigslist
Backpage
YouTube
Postlets
Myspace
RealEstateInvestor
Wufoo
Meebo
OfficeLive
Google Maps

So the question becomes, What web 2.0 tactics have you employed if any at all and were they successful in what you were trying to accomplish?

Thanks for reading.
