I am an internet consultant and more than ever I'm being asked "how can I get more traffic to my site". I would caution anyone thinking this way to step back and think about your ENTIRE web strategy. Getting traffic to your website is only part of the picture. If you're thinking about revamping your website then I recommend you position your website as a real company asset that can deliver real revenue, and quit treating it like an afterthought or something similar to an ad in the yellow pages! It can be soooo much more!

The first thing you should think about is "how will my website connect visitors and prospect to my business" and to me? The website is a facilitator to this process. Ultimately, you want to TALK to your visitors. If you ask yourself how your website can put you in a position to do this, your approach with how you build your website will be radically different.

Here's just one example: www.webresponsetools.com . Go to that site and "act" interested in what they have to offer. Watch the videos, download a couple of whitepapers and truly INTERACT with the site. You will be utterly amazed at the response you get from these people. They are VERY PROFESSIONAL and VERY APPROACHABLE. There is nothing preventing you from developing the same warm and fuzzy about your company and your website.

I'll be back with more but I just wanted to post this. The point is more traffic may not be the answer if your website is not facilitating the interaction between you and your clients. You quite possibly know how many people go to your website. Do you know WHO THEY ARE?. You should!
