The lure of becoming a real estate investor is everywhere. From the late night TV Infomercials, to the vast muck and mire of the self-proclaimed online guru's. The bright-eyed newbie investor's inbox becomes bombarded with guru promises of sharing their secrets and how you too can have success and wealth with limited or no effort and your investment of a few thousand dollars or more.
Starting out, I had no clue what I was getting into. I researched and discovered website's that were based on purchasing and holding real estate long-term. I ran into other websites and newsgroups that specialized in wholesaling, rehabs, investing in bank owned properties and short sales.
Soon my inbox was filled with inviting subjects like: "Get VIP Backstage passes!", "Amazing Opportunity!", "Wave Goodbye to your Boss!”
I learned that getting aligned with these folks would also get me a rash of emails every time their guru buddies released a new course and telling me that if I didn't buy it, I was not a "serious" investor or serious about success.
Confusing to say the least. I think the hardest part about beginning for any new investor while weeding through all of the information out there is to find a niche....you definitely need to find a niche and to do so you have to set goals before you get involved with real estate. What is your purpose beyond being able to say you have a business and to make money? Is your goal to achieve long-term stability or are you going for the quick and fast cash? Learn a specific segment that you feel helps you towards your goals and educate yourself in it. Remove yourself from any blog, newsgroup, or list that distracts you from your specific goal and keep your focus.

I like the your writing and most of us starting out have run into the same thing. You do need to know what your goals are and the niche you want to work in. this is a good site to make contacts and to put together deals. You will get great asst from most of the menbers here. take your time and go slow, good hunting
