As I am sure most of you have noticed, there are more than a few people who have made it clear that they feel they have been "burned" by purchasing one educational item or another. They claim that they have spent tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands, and yet they have not been able to close a single deal.

Now, I am sure that there are some people out there selling e-books or seminars that are just completely useless and total crap, but I have yet to spend a single cent on anything that I felt was a rip off. Overpriced? maybe. But totally and completely useless? Well, I think that's hard to do even if you tried.

You see, most people that buy an ebook or home study course never even finish reading it. Most people that read it never even try one idea or technique taught in it. Most people that complete one idea or technique taught in it never do everything that the book or course teaches. And as for the few that do complete what is taught in the materials? Well, they usually become the one or two percent that end up as testimonials.

Although I feel for people who have spent tons of money on educational materials and have yet to close on a single deal, the reason I feel for them is because odds are they have more than enough solid information to make it happen, but this info is stuffed away in their attics or garages just collecting dust.

Listen, my mindset when purchasing educational materials has always been this: "If I learn only one new thing, this has been a wise investment." I know that there will probably never be a course that can teach me all I ever need to know in order to be a successful investor. So it is impossible for me to be let down by my educational purchases because I have yet to invest in one one that didn't teach me something new.

The problem is that most people think that once they have laid down a chunk of change for education, that that's all they need to do. They don't seem to realize that buying the material is how the educators get paid, going out and actually doing what they teach is how you get paid.

I think there is a fear which holds a lot of people back.  They fear they don't know enough so they continue to pay money to hear things they already know.  I have talked to a couple people who have invested so much in education that they could have used it as a down-payment on multiple properties.  Education will lessen the fear but it will never eliminate it.  Sooner or later you have to just go and buy something.
