Bank of America raised my interest rate on my personal credit card to 24.99% for no apparent reason at all.  Evidently, there was some sort of notice sent with the bill in September along with the rest of the free magazine offers and junk.  They just decided they wanted to jack up my rate to make some more money.  I have a $3,400 balance and a $12,000 limit on that card.  I have never been late.

I called and spoke to a rep, and a supervisor who were not authorized to do anything about the rate.  Nor was there anyone else there who would be able to anything about it.

So I am letting all my investor friends here and elsewhere know to do business with Bank of America at your own risk!

TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

They are trying to save themselves by breaking the backs of their customers that can still pay them. BOA to date has bought, LaSalle, CFS. Who in their right mind would have done that?

I don't like how the banks are treating customers either.   They made eighteen billion in extra fees this year alone!   Late fees, over limit fees, etc.

<----this graphic is funny, it expresses my feelings about the banks.  lol

Thanks for the comment Brian.  You are always helpful and have responded to my posts in the past.  I mentioned to the reps that I do business with banks all the time.  I was going to be opening another business account and I was considering B of A for the business checking and a line of biz credit.  I just don't like being a "valued customer" one month and then a treated like a deadbeat the next.  If I had been late, or for some other reason less than a model customer, I'd be able to take it.

I know why the banks are doing what they are doing, I just disagree wiuth it.  I don't feel bad for the banks in this crisis.  I didn't get them in this mess.  I didn't buy a house that I could not afford.  I didn't make loan to applicants who couldn't possibly pay.  I drive an older car with no note on it.  I live in a house well within my means.  I have been and continue to be responsible for me and my family.   Now, I am forced to pay for the bank's mistpeps and greed for many years to come through taxes in the government bailout and I will be damned if I have to pay again throught my personal line of credit that is at a responsible level and never been late.

I think its bad business and fundamentally makes no sense.  Lets see, there is a recession and record job loss.  The cost of living is increasing, Wall Street is in shambles, and many have lost half their retirement savings.  It appears the current economic situation is not going to end soon and the worst may not be behind us.  So lets make it even harder for the working man by jacking up his rates to 25%.   If people are having difficulty making payments on their homes do you think they will find the extra cash to pay off the new astronomical minimum payment on their credit card?

Gee, I dunno? BoA loves us!!

They hold all of our security deposits for our tenants, buildings and businesses and they treat us like royalty when we walk in. We live in a really small rural New England town where there the service is very warm and personal too. Obviously we are very complimentary to their services, they never charge us late fees and we have done business with them for years. I guess they like us as customers, but we don't have a credit card from them. I can't speak to that aspect of the post, but they treat us great as customers.

In this business, you must LOVE your banks, brokers, and lawyers – that's right – lawyers need love too.

It's not just BoA.  All banks are raising their rates to help with foreclosures.  It's only going to get worse.
