I started a thread on it (here) just to get things going and for general discussion. But for anyone who wants to follow, I'm going to periodically blog about it here and show/prove/disprove if these things work and how they do for my area (read a bit about it in the thread)...and for that matter, can I get some deals ultimately out of all of this?
Anyway, here's the quick background: ordered 50 blue/white 18X24's from www.banditsigns.com ... IMO from what I shopped around they had the best overall prices. More you order of course the less per sign it is. In my area, I've barely and I mean barely seen any of these up overall...maybe like 2 different numbers on them, and now I just started seeing a couple up with a 3rd one...but again, hardly any signs in total numbers. My ultimate goal is to get a ton of these up and really start knocking up my area...will take a few weeks, but it'll happen.
Also ordered the Sign Stapler, which is making hanging these things a blast. Worth it. Worth it in the time saved category big time. Get one. End of story.
OK, so I started putting these things up over the weekend. I've knocked up about 15 total so far as I drive some areas to check out further. I have a decent idea of where I want to hit already, so that made it easier to get going on (quick brainstorming session last week before they came). Right now, this is all major routes, roundabouts, highway exits, etc. that I'm already familiar with to start. Lost 2 as well; can't say for sure who grabbed them, but they're gone
So I've gotten 3 calls so far. As I mentioned in the thread, the first one actually called twice...sounded like she was 15 or something. Looking to buy a 3/2 range around January. Gives me some time to work and put her through as a potential. Never pre-judge, you never know what you might get out of it...but when you recognize them as a deadbeat/tire kicker, drop 'em and move on.
Second was looking for a home in another (smaller) city a few minutes north that was "non-ghetto" (her words)
... there are a couple of better areas, so that's good to work off of....I think I saw a couple of foreclosure types up that way too on RealtyTrac...have to research further.
Few minutes after that came another call...wack call of the day (I let these go to voice mail on my cell unless I happen to catch the call coming in and can take it; my message says anyway that I return calls in no more then 24 hours). Girl got so distraught I couldn't even get what she was trying to say or pretty much her phone #. Sounded like an apartment seeker and a distress call to get out of her present living situation. Yikes! Have to see if that one decides to call back...hey, you're bound to get a couple of those types anyway...hahahaha.
So, in Part 2 I'll have more signs up, mention if I lose any along the way, see if that last caller phones back, and we'll see if any other calls come through. I'll post that probably on Friday when I'm off.
Cheers for now..
