If there is one thing I think a new investor should learn, it is the art and business of building a network the RIGHT way and right away.  Dale Carnegie often said that the most interesting people in the world are the ones that are interested in you.  Similar to the golden rule of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", this principle that we are all a bit egocentric helps us understand how to draw a network to ourselves.  We become interested in other people; finding out what they want and need and of course with all sincerity become a support for them.  If they are struggling to find a particular financing, property, loan scenario or even just need an ear to listen to their woeful struggle; then be that.  And if you cannot help be honest and say so, but be careful not to say what they're trying to do can NEVER BE done.  Dreams have a way of taking flight and who are we to stand in the way of what could be a beautiful journey for someone else.

Take Care and Be a Blessing!

Wonderful reminder.  Since joining this site a few weeks back I have found people are very willing to help and have increased my knowledge by an incredible amount.  You can't under-estimate the value of networking, speaking to an experianced professional for 30 minutes is worth more than most REI books.

Great blog Dalene.

If anyone reading this is interested in learning more on the topic I listed a great book about business networking over on my profile page.  You can look there, then head off to the library for your next book to reserve.

Best of success,
Joel
