Has anyone used that vinyl floor (I got from Lowes) that has the padding on the bottom? I thought the stuff was going to be wonderful and absorb rough spots, etc.. . I bought the hardwood floor look and as I unrolled it, it started ripping TOO EASY!!! The sides ripped like paper- you could tear it with your hands! It's their NEXT to the top of the line stuff and it rips so easy. I was so frustrated with the stuff, I sat down and cried like a baby (having ONE of those days)... knowwhatimean???!!! That was the topping on the cake..
Anyone use it? Know what I'm talking about??.. It was about $15.74 a lin. foot, so my 12x19 floor cost almost $300.00.. I EXPECT it to stand up to wear and tear for years.. it wore and tore alright... Thank GOD a friend came by and helped me fix the problem before it really became a problem.. I just wasn't happy with it AT ALL..
What type of flooring do you find works best (brand name?)

Hey Crystal,
I know this an old post but I thought I could help out. Real Estate Investor is right about using flooring places to get flooring. Lowe's is great for getting petty stuff like light bulbs, a door, landscaping blocks, etc. But when it comes to the bigger ticket items like flooring, cabinets, drywall, and other items you need in bulk, it's better to open accounts with stores that specialize in each item. The more business you do with them the better discounts you can receive.
As far as labor, most contractors who install these things, especially carpet, will install carpet on the side for cheaper than the store. Almost all contractors do side work for quick money.
One thing to keep in mind is that they will not be licensed or insured and you will have to pay them cash so it won't be a write off but it will still save you money.
I hope this was helpful and if you have any questions, please don't wait to ask.

Crystal,
Sorry to hear about dilema. The good thing is you bought it from Lowes and they will take anything back.
My advice to you -
Dont buy you Linoleum from Lowes. We have set up accounts with wholesale flooring places. We typically pay about 30 - 50 cents a foot. If your floor has rough spots lay down some Luan (cheap 1/8" plywood).
Its best just to leave it to the pros. We typically pay aout 50 cents a foot to have it installed.
I call in the style I want - the pro picks it up/ installs it and mails me a bill. It takes me about 10 minutes, and costs about the same.
