Ok here's the question.  Is it possible to get a lien attached to a person and removed from a property?  I have heard that it's possible I just don't know how to go about doing it.  I have a property that I can put under contract but it has a lien on it that I need to remedy before I do anything.  But if I can have the lien attached to the current owners, problem solved.

I have heard that you can get a "partial lien release". In this case the partial means the property you are dealing with. The lien usually attaches to all property owned by that person, so in essence it is a lien against a person. You need to talk to the holder of the lien and negotiate a partial release. It will likely cost you money. But not necessarily the total amount that the person owes.
