We are in the Real Estate Investing business.  No matter what methods we utilize to make our profits we are running a business.  Some of us are small and new, some of us are quite seasoned in the business with many successes and likely a few mis-steps along the way, but we must be business minded to succeed.  It's fine to enjoy and have fun with the business, however we must also keep in mind we are not investing in real estate as a hobby.   If a Hobby is what you want, I don't recommend this business.  Please consider stamp collecting, baseball cards, model railroading, or come up with your own.  But don't invest in Real Estate with a hobby mentality.

Be Smart, Learn all you can, Remain humble, Share your knowledge with others, and run your real estate business like a business.  I believe the people who say real estate investing is too risky or isn't one of the greatest businesses available yesterday, today, or tomorrow are those who are either uneducated, ignorant to the opportunities, prejudiced by a previously poor real estate investment decision, or just plain too lazy to take the time and energy to learn the business, the real estate investing business

So the next time someone walks up to you and asks what type of business are you in, you should confidently say, "I am a real estate investor, I am in the business of investing in real estate.  It's a great business.  I love what I do!"  Remember to be polite,  smile with sincerity, say thank you for asking, and offer your business or contact card.

Best of success,
Joel

(This is my first blog here so please be gentle on the grading.  , just kidding. It's ok, grade away to your liking.)

Joel, I came late to your Party however this is a very good point about being proud of what you do. Otherwise do something else that you like. Worth an A.

Great Blog, it’s the truth, I work more than if I had a 9to 5 job but guess what, I don’t mind it because I love what I do! I am more real estate obsessed this is what I do; really all I know how to do.
John
Great points, we market and run a business for profit, not cash flow. You have to make more money than you can spend.

Good point. People who run a business focus on making a profit. They are not in business just to break even. You set up a business to generate cash flow and profits rather than just trying to make the loan payments. John Corey
