NEW YORK – Natavia Lowery, the 26-year old former assistant to “Realtor for the stars” Linda Stein has confessed to killing Stein in her exclusive Fifth Avenue apartment. Lowery was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Lowery, in her videotaped confession, reportedly told police that she hit Stein with a yoga stick after Stein blew marijuana smoke in her face and made racially offensive remarks. Lowery’s family is challenging the confession, claiming she may have been coerced after enduring eighteen hours of rigorous interrogation. Lowery’s lawyer is also challenging the videotaped statements, saying that Lowery was not to be filmed without her attorney present. Linda Stein was found dead face down and in a pool of blood by her daughter Mandy who had been staying with her while filming a documentary. Stein was dressed in a jogging suit, suggesting she had just returned from her daily walk in Central Park. There was no sign of forced entry, indicating that Stein may have known her attacker. Stein worked for Prudential Douglas Elliman. Her star clientele included Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Sting, Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley, Bruce Willis, Jann Wenner, Michael Douglas, and Steven Spielberg. She counted Sylvester Stallone, and Blaine Trump as close friends. Elton John is Stein’s daughter Mandy’s godfather. Stein reportedly sold 20 to 30 properties a year, with deals averaging several million dollars. Stein was so well-known, that the real estate agent in the movie "Wall Street" was supposedly based on her. Before Stein’s career in the real estate industry took flight, she was a recording industry executive and former manager of the Ramones who came on the scene under Sire Records. Stein’s ex-husband, Seymour Stein, was president of the label. |
