Greetings!

First, want to say what an awesome site!  Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Just wanted post some comments and see what others think about fear and getting started.  Have read a ton of books and understand that there is a ton of money to be made in REI.  What I have found is that you can't be a master of all when you are getting started.  The key is to just do it.

While that may seem easy to say and we all know it to be true, it is a lot harder to actually do.  The main reason is probably fear.  Fear comes in all shapes and forms and we all have or have had different degrees of it.

Decided that Wholesaling is the best fit for me and tried to find someone else who is doing it in my area.  Maybe I just didn't talk to enough people, but everyone says that this is not how it is done up here.  It gets pretty discouraging, but after thinking on this, it is really an opportunity....an untapped market.  The glass is half full!!!!!

Would like to hear from others how they got over the initial "hump" of getting started in investing and in particular, wholesaling.  Also, and referrals of their "inner circle" would be appreciated.

Thanks and take care,
Dave

Dave,

Each market may have its' own features; don't get discouraged and don't listen to the naysayers.

Good luck with investing!

Hey Dave,

A+ welcome to the site!

Fear is the main reason most people never get started. I say use this fear to your advantage. If your not ready to make the leap - then keep studying. Knowledge is power, when you gain enough knowledge the fear tends to go away. I sat on the sidelines for years.

I was full of fear - But finally one day i got brave and did it. And boy did i screw up - well not really, but from what i know now - I would do things alot different. In fact that first deal is really a reminder of where i came from and where i am now. I still own my first deal. I still collect rent checks on it every month.

If you get into wholesaling - there are  several wholesalers on this site - you can learn alot from. Again - Knowledge is power. Once you learn enough - you will do it.

Don't rush it - Study, learn, study and study some more. And don't quit your day job until you can afford to. Good luck to you.
