As times goes by, so does my biggest mistake of not getting a survey on a property when I bought it!
I have now had TWO survey's on my property. One by the guy who put the line through my kitchen and across the porch of the 2nd house, hoping he'd find his mistake and fix it, and then by the best company we have in this area, who put the line back where I THOUGHT it was from the beginning.
Now, the first guy says he is right and will not bend. So, my neighbor wants MY property (after living their happily with the way it USED to be for 7 years), and is fighting me to take my land. We are talking my driveway to the first and second house, the back of my property, cutting across the 2nd house!
So, today was a day with the lawyer. She says going to court will run in the $10K area and mediation is the next step.
My survey guy thinks ... no KNOWS he is right and wants to take it to the end of the line to prove it. Of course, he's not paying the $10K! So, I'll keep you posted on the next step now.
My lawyer wants me to get yet ANOTHER opinion from another surveyor to compare the two maps drawn up and see what they say. If they are with me, then I have 2 surveyors against one or vise versa.
Lesson learned... when in the faintest doubt... GET A SURVEY up front. IF ever, I buy another property where the deed says, go to the oak tree down to the big rock at the foot of the hill.... YEP... I'm getting a NEW survey!!!!!!!!!
