They are not final and to be voted by City Council:
1. No storage after eviction is required
2. Once the deputy sheriff schedules the eviction with the Landlords, Landlords must send the Tenants a notice at least 14 days before the eviction, by
a. A certified mail, and
b. A first class mail (with Certificate of Mailing)
3. The notice required certain information, including the date of the eviction and other information to be announced.
4. Landlords must post the same notice on the property door at least 7 days before the eviction.
5. Landlords' delivery of these three notices is a one-time event. If eviction is postponed for any reason, the notice does not have to be given again.
6. On the date of eviction, if Tenants told Sheriff that they never got the notice, Sheriff can suspend the eviction and send the parties to court to resolve the dispute.
7. Landlords should appear in court with all the mailing and picture evidence.
8. If Judge rules at Landlords favor, Landlords can call Sheriff to reschedule the eviction as soon as Sheriff available.
9. If Judge rules at Tenants favor, Tenants have another 15 days before eviction.
The upcoming procedures in the City Council:
* The voting session of the Housing Subcommittee will occur on Tuesday July 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the conference room outside the City Council chambers on the 4th floor of City Hall.
* If approved, as amended, the bill goes to the floor of the Council for a vote.
* If the City Council approves it, it goes to the Mayor for signature.
* The bill is supposed to take effect 30 days after approval and signature by the Mayor.
* Council members: Harris, Middleton and Spector are the Housing Subcommittee
* They vote on July 2nd. They also will vote when the full Council votes on the bill.
