I have to admit, I was a little worried after reading another blogger about paying his crew and they took a long long weekend! I had JUST paid my crew more than they asked for up front money and that was Friday. I was wondering if they were going to show, but they were here at 8am!
8am-930am. Tina and Dean put up the sheet rock on the ceilings and mud them.
930am. I finally make it down to the duplex (had lots of phone calls to do, etc.) and the medicine cabinet was going in. It's nice to start to see little things getting done even with the big things.
10am... off to my favorite store with measurements to find out what treasures I can buy. You won't BELIEVE this: I had $20.00 and I came back with $2.30 in my pocket
* enough LARGE shoe molding to do the entire HOUSE
* 3 LONG pieces (15 feet or so) of crown molding (enough to do the bathroom)
*my personal interest (10 pickets from a fence), It is going to become my headboard of my bed.
*8 cans of paint, (including 2 kitz primer and 1 concrete paint to waterproof
*a bird house
* 2 door knobs for the closets (no need for key)
*a light fixture
*can of liquid wrench
*of course, our usual... peppermint patties
Oh, and over the weekend off the freebies on www.craigslist.com I picked up a BEAUTIFUL medicine cabinet. Frosted glass and two doors on it. Very classy.
12pm: On to Lowe's to pick up what the Habitat Store didn't have that I needed.
At Lowe's, I bought 2 windows (to see which one will fit better), traded the tiles that I bought for lighter color, case of outlets, exterior paint and some other things. I couldn't fit the windows in the car, so I left them for my boys to pick up.
315pm. The boys are JUST getting moving today. I give them my treasure map from shopping on craigslist and send them after it.. It is 51 miles away, but I fill their trip with stops on the way and way back to make it worthwhile!
*11x15 gently used light tan carpet and padding FREE
*15x16 GREEN carpet and high dollar padding... $90.00 (green seems to be our theme in this house, even by accident. The counter tops I bought for $15.00 are green too.
and they swung back by Lowe's to pick up the Windows, getting home about 8pm.
715pm. I start caulking and priming the house, since it's a little cooler. I quit when I hear thunder (dang it), but it's 1030pm and no rain yet, so I'm assuming I'm safe! It wasn't suppose to rain tonight, but the lightning and thunder tells me ... it just might!
I'll may post pictures tomorrow. Let me know what you think. Are you enjoying reading this blog or should I not waste the time or space. If you are interested in the rehab, I'll continue to post.
Thanks

Hi Crystal,
Please continue to write, I'm following your rehab. I'm getting great ideas. Your blog reminded me to check on my local habitat store to see if it reopened after moving to a new location.
Wishing you much success!
