Family
I am from the Bartolotta clan of Middletown, Connecticut, originally from Mellili, Sicily. My father, the youngest of six children, was born in Melilli and moved to Connecticut when he was a child. I've got two younger brothers, an older sister, and three older stepbrothers. My father and step-mother Eileen live in the house I grew up in, in East Haddam. My sister lives in Middletown with her two kids, and my brother Matt lives in Arkansas with his wife and new baby. My brother Jesse and my mother are migrant workers. Jesse is currently in Grand Marais, Minnesota, and my mother and step-father Rick are probably wearing Mickey and Minnie suits at Disney World, but we can't be sure.
In another life, I was a Jagotrab.
About Me
I am a real estate attorney in Connecticut, but my clients are scattered throughout the country and growing. My law practice concentrates on three areas: real estate, property, and small business law. I integrate my past career as a management consultant with the knowledge I have as a real estate investor and a small business owner to assist my clients in designing and implementing their business plans.

Here's how I can help real estate investors:
- Real estate acquisition. Installment contracts; foreclosures; leases and lease/options; 1031 tax-deferred exchanges; and evaluation of documents found on the public records, including chains of title, probate documents, and court documents.
- Real estate finance. Conventional and non-conventional loans; mortgage and loan documents for institutional and private lenders; seller financing; short sales; and lease options.
- Property and asset management. Commercial and residential leases; subordination and non-disturbance agreements; debt subordination agreements; mortgage and loan documents for refinances; asset protection, including choice of entity, drafting formation documents, and estate planning; evictions and foreclosure actions.
My approach to my business is that we are all part of a team. Each one of us plays a separate and unique role in getting a deal off the ground. When I am working on a closing, the lender gets all the financing together, the realtor helps locate a good property and get it for a good price, and my office puts together all the legal documents to make the deal come alive. The investor is like the leader of the band; he oversees the whole process, making sure each individual component is working. So I am always looking for more team members, people whom I can trust, professionals who have the investor's best interests at heart.
