The Scoop
The Rich Coast
It wasn't 100% emotionally driven, (although I'd be lying if I said not at all). I knew before I ever saw a "For Sale" sign that this was a solid investment for all ... like Florida in the 1950's
The beaches, surfing, diving, ziplines, rain forests, volcanoes, cloud forests, orchids, monkeys, sloths, snorkeling, canyoning, rafting, mountains, weather, latin food and culture ... the people - make it oh so beautiful.
Not to mention the .25% property taxes and cost of living!! I know there are many places in our small world to love ... to live ... don't stay in one spot!
... Makes me TICK!
Love to learn, read, and share while entertaining others opinions and perspectives.
I enjoy the present, the process of where we're headed, the journey - otherwise - what the heck is the point, really?
Life in Costa Rica
I live in Costa Rica enjoying life's simple pleasures ... oh, and work! I am an International Real Estate consultant on the North Pacific 'Gold Coast' & love every minute of it... More to come on that below.
I welcome contrast in my perspectives and have enjoy cultural differences. My parents sent me on a student ambassador trip to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales when I was 14 ... so it's their fault I'm so worldly (thank you!!)
I have a severe addiction to travel (that I don't fight) and appreciate how it shapes my personality... Everyone should take a trip solo!
I spent Fall of last year gallivanting Spain - Barcelona for a month, the tomato fight near Valencia, family in Salamanca & Mallorca; then Monaco, France - Rome & Bari, Italy; Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, & the island of Bol, Croatia; Athens and Corfu, Greece; and Marrakesh, Morocco - 3 months total - making friends all the way.
I actually ended up in Costa Rica because in 2006 I came here, lived with a family for a month and traveled for another ... and I knew I found a gem, and a great use for my International Business degree, while utilizing my investing experience, in paradise!

The market is completely different - lower taxes, ridiculously low homeowners insurance, pristine beaches - and although there are mortgage products available - most of our buyers are cash. Great options for a vacation home and rental income in one. Feel free to ask questions about living, working, buying here ... I'm happy to lend my expertise, as it is my passion.

Hi Sarah,
I will definitely be there on the 20th.
A good friend of mine from Tampa moved to Jaco about 6 months ago. I was seriously considering moving down there, but then things started to pick up here. I will be making a trip down there before the year is over. I have a feeling once I get there, I'm not going to want to leave.
If you have any spare time when you're in Tampa, I'd love to get together for lunch or coffee. If not- I'll see you on the 20th.
Take care,
Stephani

Hey Sarah,
Good to hear from ya, Hows C.R? Where exactly are you?
Where did My wife and I go - The Guanacaste region. We flew into San Jose - drove straight to Arenal -spent 48 hours there and then headed to the coast.
We went with no itinerary, but armed with a map and some basic info on cities and spots. We went north first and literally stumbled upon a hotel in Panama that one one of the highlights of our trip. and Then we headed south stopping many places including Tamarindo - Portero - and finally ended up what I call Paradise - Playa Negra.
I knew of a wave from the Movie "endless summer" and I thought If I was to go to C.R. I would have to go there. So we did and we discovered Heaven. We stayed here for 3 days - and It was Heaven. I miss Costa Rica.....
Pura vida,
Sean
